Diarrhoea is a common condition in children and tends to least for less than two weeks. In this case, your child has suffered from acute diarrhoea. If the condition lasts for longer than two weeks and continues to persist, your child will have chronic diarrhoea.
Although not a serious condition, your child may suffer from dehydration due to the amount of fluid being lost throughout each day. To help combat this, we recommend that you ensure that your child drinks lots of water, which can include special rehydration drinks.
What Causes Childhood Acute Diarrhoea?
The most common cause of acute diarrhoea is an infection of the gut. This could be the result of the following:
- A Virus
- Food Poisioning

Uncommon causes of the condition in child can include:
- Inflammation of the Gut
- Food Intolerance
- Gut Disorders
