Dr Prashanthi Katta

Consultant Paediatrician – Cardiologist

Dr Katta has over 20 years of experience in General Paediatrics. She has served as a Consultant Paediatrician and Paediatric Cardiology Lead at East Surrey Hospital for the past eight years and also holds an honorary consultant position at Royal Brompton Hospital.

She completed her paediatric training across several renowned centres, including Kings College Hospital, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, St George’s Hospital, Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, and Royal Brompton Hospital. She has completed the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) Special Interest Module in Paediatric Cardiology and holds full accreditation from the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) to perform paediatric echocardiography.

Dr Katta specialises in the care of children with heart conditions, including congenital heart defects. She is committed to providing holistic, family-centred care and believes in working closely with families to achieve the best outcomes for children. She assesses and manages a wide range of cardiac concerns, including chest pain, palpitations, heart murmurs, and fainting episodes, as well as common childhood conditions such as constipation, headaches, asthma, and abdominal pain.

Passionate about education and research, Dr Katta is actively involved in training the next generation of healthcare professionals. She leads point-of-care ultrasound courses for paediatric trainees, has published educational articles aimed at improving paediatric training, and currently leads the undergraduate paediatric education programme for medical students at East Surrey Hospital
